Mostly Quilts

This fiber art depicts part of the silk making process.  The caterpillar eats the leaves of the white mulberry plant for about six weeks, and then spins a cocoon around himself that is one long continuous silk thread up to 600 meters in length.  This art includes silk fabric, cotton fabric, tulle, skeleton leaves and green tea-dyed silk cocoons.  It is machine quilted and professionally framed for a finished size of 15  1/4″  square.

This cheerful piece uses batik fabrics with a heart motif to complement the appliqued hearts.  It measures 27″ square, hangs straight, and has a sleeve on the back for hanging.

This art quilt sends a message that we can expand our horizons. It was fun to make it look like some of the animals were escaping their borders. This professionally framed art quilt is machine quilted, machine appliquéd with variegated thread. It is 18” x 24”.

The lion print is featured as the center of a log cabin block. It is machine quilted and embellished with fibers and buttons. This art quilt is professionally framed with burled wood and is 17.5” x 17”.

Wild animal prints are wonderful! I used one print and divided the squares by species. Then I made the corners look like an old photo album. This art quilt is 23.5” 23.5”.

My plan was to create a nature art quilt, but it took its own path and the curves became three women…three generations. This professionally framed art quilt is machine quilted, machine appliquéd and embellished with fringe beads, vintage buttons and appliqué. It is 21” x 24”

This art quilt gave me a chance to work with red and black and soften it with the additions of some grays. It is machine quilted and appliqued with variegated thread. It is professionally framed and measures 33.5″ x 31.5″.
